Hearty Four Grain Breakfast

Whole Oats, Buckwheat, Brown and Black Rice are combined to make this breakfast before you go to bed. Wake up to a hearty flavor.

Yields: Serves 4-6


1/4 cup brown rice

1/4 cup oat groats*

1/4 cup buckwheat groats

1/4 cup black rice

5-6 cups water

1 tsp salt

1/4 cup sweetener (maple syrup, agave nectar, brown rice syrup)

1-2 cups non-dairy milk (almond, soy, rice or hemp milk)**


Before you go to bed, measure the grains into a crock pot. Add 5-6 cups of water***. Cover and set on Low. Let it cook for 8-9 hours. Stir in the salt and sweetener. Serve with non-dairy milk.

Additional Tips

Left overs can be stored for 3-5 days in the refrigerator in an air-tight container; just reheat and serve.

*Certified Gluten-Free oats are available; check package labels.

***If you expect the the cooking time to be longer than 8 hours, add 6 cups of water.
